PETER SCOTT 135 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

PETER SCOTT HAS PLAYED A PIVOTAL ROLE IN THE HISTORY OF KNITWEAR IN THE SCOTTISH BORDERS FOR MORE THAN 135 YEARS.

He started his company in an age of enlightenment as industrialists embraced the principals of free trade. Young entrepreneurs discovered and applied new ideas and technologies which transformed Scotland into one of the foremost commercial, intellectual and industrial powerhouses of Europe.

His interest in technical complexity and knitwear construction led him to become an early pioneer of ‘fully fashioned’ knitwear manufactured in 24 hand processes using Bently Cotton knitting machinos. The company flourished, creating timeless classics which represented the very best of Scottish knitwear produced in the Borders.

The Peter Scott company was honoured with an official visit from HRH Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in its Centenary Year.

Peter Scott is recognised as a Victorian entrepreneur, philanthropist and innovator. The same attention to detail and innovation which inspired the founder continues at the heart of the hand crafted manufacturing process. His legacy is a company with an international reputation for fine craftsmanship and luxurious fabrics.
